SEEN MENTOR PRIZE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The Prize

1.1 The Seen Mentor Prize is a career development prize for emerging artists, administered by Seen ("Seen", "we", "us"), founded by Carrie Scott.

1.2 The prize is offered in two categories: an open category available to all eligible applicants, and a sponsored category for women artists, offered in partnership with The Christian Levett Collection and FAMM Museum Mougins.

1.3 Both category winners will receive: three one-to-one mentorship sessions with Carrie Scott; a feature interview in Have You Seen?; visibility across the Seen platform and network; and a copy of the Get Seen Workbook.

1.4 The winner of the sponsored category for women artists will additionally receive a one-hour portfolio review via video call with Christian Levett.

1.5 Mentorship sessions will be conducted in person or via video call, at Carrie Scott's discretion. All three sessions must be completed within 12 months of the winner being announced.

1.6 Seen reserves the right to modify or withdraw the prize, or any element of it, in exceptional circumstances. In the event of any modification, Seen will endeavour to offer a reasonable alternative of equivalent value. There is no alternative cash prize.

2. Eligibility

2.1 The Seen Mentor Prize is open to emerging artists worldwide.

2.2 Applicants must be 18 years of age or over at the time of application.

2.3 Previous winners of the Seen Mentor Prize are not eligible to enter.

2.4 Employees and contractors of Seen are not eligible to enter.

2.5 To be considered for the sponsored category for women artists, applicants opt into that category during the application process.

3. Application

3.1 Applications must be submitted via the official application form at https://www.seen.art/store/p/seen-mentor-prize-submission by between 27 April, 2026 and 23:59 on 31 May 2026 (UK time). Seen reserves the right to extend or shorten the submission period at any point.

3.2 The standard application fee is £35. A discounted fee of £20 is available to students and recent graduates upon application of a valid discount code. Seen reserves the right to request proof of student status at any time. Applications submitted at the discounted rate that cannot be verified will be void.

3.3 Application fees are non-refundable.

3.4 Each applicant may submit one application. Applications must include portfolio images and a short artist statement.

3.5 All submitted work must be the applicant's own original work. By submitting an application, the applicant warrants that they are the sole creator and copyright holder of the submitted work, that the work does not infringe any third-party rights, and that no conflicting agreements exist that would restrict its use as outlined in these terms.

3.6 Work previously submitted to the Seen Mentor Prize in a prior year is eligible for resubmission.

3.7 Any application that contains false, fraudulent, incomplete, or misleading information will be disqualified. Seen reserves the right to disqualify any application that does not comply with these terms at any stage of the competition.

3.8 By submitting an application, applicants confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions in their entirety.

4. Skills-Based Competition

4.1 The Seen Mentor Prize is a skills-based competition. Winners are selected solely on the basis of the quality, originality, and merit of their submitted work and artist statement, as assessed by the judges in accordance with these terms.

4.2 As a skills-based competition, the outcome is not determined by chance. Accordingly, no free method of entry is available, and the application fee is required from all entrants. The reduced fee available to students and recent graduates is offered as an accessibility measure and does not constitute a free entry route.

4.3 The application fee contributes to the administration of the prize and is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the application.

5. Judging

5.1 Applications for the open prize will be reviewed by Carrie Scott. The final selection will be made solely by Carrie Scott. The final selection of the winner in the Women’s category will be made by Carrie Scott and Christian Levett.

5.2 The decision of the judges is final. No discussion or correspondence regarding judging decisions will be entered into at any time.

5.3 Seen reserves the right, in exceptional circumstances, not to make an award in either or both categories.

6. Intellectual Property and Usage Rights

6.1 Artists retain full ownership and copyright of all work submitted to the Seen Mentor Prize at all times.

6.2 All submitted work will be reviewed solely for the purposes of administering the prize. Seen will not reproduce, publish, or share work submitted by applicants who are not selected as winners or runners-up without the applicant's explicit prior consent.

6.3 By submitting an application, winners and runners-up grant Seen a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to reproduce and display their submitted work for the purposes of marketing and promotion of the Seen Mentor Prize, and across Seen's platforms and editorial channels, including but not limited to the Seen website, social media accounts, email communications, and the Have You Seen? interview series.

6.4 Winners and runners-up will be credited for their work wherever practicable.

6.5 The licence granted under clause 6.3 does not transfer ownership of the work, does not permit Seen to sell the work, and does not permit third parties to reproduce the work without the artist's separate consent.

6.6Submitted work will not be used, shared, licensed, or otherwise made available for the purposes of training, developing, or improving any artificial intelligence system, large language model, or any automated data processing technology, by Seen or any third party. This restriction applies to all submitted work, including that of winners, runners-up, and unsuccessful applicants.

7.1 Personal data submitted as part of an application will be processed in accordance with Seen's Privacy Policy, available at www.seen.art/privacy-policy. By submitting an application, applicants consent to their personal data being used for the purposes of administering the prize.

7.2 The contact details of winners and runners-up may be shared with The Christian Levett Collection and FAMM Museum Mougins solely for the purposes of delivering the prize and any associated communications.
